singing
15/11/17
we started the lesson by going through peoples vocal warm ups they had brought in to show the class everyone brought different styles of vocal warm ups which was good as we needed to learn a variety of different things. the first person brought in an exercise where they said a tongue twister this helped us with our articulation
my range
lowest-e
highest-d#
i have started to think about different song to do for my set list and i have come up with these songs
think/say a little prayer - Aretha Franklin
bust your windows- jasmine
proud Mary- Tina Turner
killing me softly- Fuges
well well well- Duffy
no diggity- back street boys
Warwick avenue- Duffy
I STILL NEED TO CONSIDER WHAT SONGS OTHER SONGS I WANT TO DO!
i have been practicing different songs at home and thinking about how to improve myself and my range so i have been using my piano at home to do some things to help me get to a higher note. i have also started doing mini warm ups before i start singing. i also need to work on performing in front of people as i usually get nervous.
to help me with performing i started doing open mic nights again this has helped because i need to get over having stage fright
i still need to come up with different songs but i am finding it hard to choose one to do
today in class my musical theater group had to sing one song from our set list and i sung proud Mary i think that it was really good i just found it a little hard to reach some of the notes which was kind of upsetting as i think the song goes with my voice very well
i am still thinking about different songs to sing as i want to have a different mix. today we spent the lesson showing each other our solo songs and giving each other feed back to help one and other to progress with our song selection. today i sung a song called well well well by duffy i chose this song because i think it suits my voice and it also is a song i am comfortable singing. i got some good feedback which helped me decide weather to sing the song. we then worked on out group pieces. we have decided to sing one night only, its all over and we still need to decide the last song we want to sing. we have bee working wit one of our dance teachers for choreography.
my warm ups
while i have been working on my set list i have started to do warm ups before i sing as i think its a good thing to start doing here are a few of the things ive been doing:
breathing exercises
seeing how long i can hold a note
tongue twisters
warm up songs
i have been doing these as i feel it will really help me in the long run my teacher has already hold me that i can reach higher notes then i could a couple of weeks ago
